10+ round magazines transit thru Germany

Hi,

I am a Dutch sportshooter and i'm planning to go to Poland later this year. so I need to cross thru Germany.

 

Is it possible to get an exempt as a non German resident for the 30 round magazines?

 

Also regarding to this: One of the rifles i would like to take to Poland is an Sig Sauer MPX 16" 

Problem is that the factory 10 round magazine that came with the gun is an 20 round mag body wich is restricted to 10 rounds, are those also forbidden? Because of the 20 round body?

According to § 12 Section 1 Number 6 of the german gun law, you don't need a permit when transiting Guns through german territory, as long as the transport is compliant with § 32, i.e. you have a gun licence of your home country (if applicable) and a european fire arms pass)

 

Keep in mind, that german gun laws require you to transport the gun in a locked case. Also, the gun must be unloaded, which under german law is the case when there is no ammunition or bullet  whatsoever in the gun. Not even a loaded magazine in the gun without a round beeing chambered is permitted.

 

Regarding  restricted Magazines it would be best to confirm this via a request to the german federal police (BKA), as there is some debate, if the general rules  for transit of "Weapons" are applicable to, as the gun law calls it, "banned items". They should, but sometimes german gun law is a mess.

Thanks for the answers, I have sent a mail to the bka. 

Looks like the transport are almost the same with Nl. We don't need a locked case but the rest is the same. 

Regarding the mess, in NL the gun law is exactly the same. One big mess.

 

I already asked the range if they have magazines but they only have them for ar's and not for the MPX.

I just received an reply from the Bka. I did ask it in English but they responded in German. 

If I read it correct they redirect me to the  nearest office in Germany that gives out the permits?

They are basically saying that you were asking for legal advice and that they're neither responsible nor legally allowed to give such advice.

 

Furthermore they state, among other things, they are only responsible for granting permits for forbidden weapons (10+ magazines are classified as such) and giving legal advice for these matters

 

You are right, they redirected you to the local office, which is kinda odd cause these local offices aren't responsible for forbidden weapons. That would be the BKA.

 

Welcome to German bureaucratic nonsense.

§ 40 (4) is exactly what You asked US HERE. I guess it is the same You asked BKA as well? So they are the responsible guys for You request. I do not know if they have to read requests that are not in german language. (Years ago I asked my boss at a large company to agree that I am going to sell a huge contract to a customer living in German but just speaking englisch language. Denied) 

Imo You can write to the german embassy in Your country and ask for help.

 

And: I would ask about any fees charged at first.
