La Longe Carabine
Me the Greenhorn, my dad La Longe Carabine, Deborah, my sister and Wolfgang our friend were going to shoot the 100 yard match at Montlouis near Tours in France. Wolfgang took his .308 Garand and I and my father the Norinco. Dad shot first then it was my turn. It was very loud in the shooting room because the firing points are covered by a hut made of sheet metal. Then the walls are throwing back the noise and the range is selfmade the targets beeing pinned on steel ropes. In the firing room we had to wear ear plugs and ear muffs. Because dad was shooting first the rifle was very hot circa 70 degress C, huh, very hot! Mirage was very terrible because the barrel wasn´t cold. When I shot rapid fire I coudn´t see the target, the mirage was horrible. I shot 6es. 7s, or 8 which wasn´t good. After that I said to my father angrily: " Next year you shoot the Garand and I shoot the Norinco!". So I learned: Shoot first then you are better. Wolfgang had a poem: I don´t need a teenage queen because I love my M forteen. Bernard gave me a cup because I was the youngest shooter and got 10th place. Wolfgang won 2 bottles of champaign for 3rd place and Makalu won the match cup and 10 bottles of champaign. My dad was 5th place only. We were in a hotel in Amboise for 6 days. In the hotel is a old dog with golden hair. The wall was full of pictures with monsters and aliens, horrible and creative pictures too. A bar was there, too. In a cupboard are a lot of glasses and alcohol, beer, whisky and other. Near the bar are a lot of comics. The coffee is very good. At breakfast we ate and drank croissant, tea, coffe, hot chocolate.
