State of New York going full retard

The NY Senate, in a bi-partisan vote (!), has passed new legislation to further restrict gun ownership

in the State. It is expected, that the bill will fly through the House of Representative, which is dominated by the

Democrats. Besides other measures, magazines with a capacity over 7 rounds will be banned!

Here is the text of the bill

http://open.nysenate...bill/S2230-2013

Excerpts from http://www.usatoday....k-guns/1833271/

Cuomo's bill — named the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, or NY SAFE — would enact a number of new measures, including a ban of all magazines that hold more than seven rounds and universal background checks for all gun sales, regardless if they are private, person-to-person sales.
The bill, Cuomo said, also includes a "Webster provision" — a life-without-parole prison sentence for anyone who murders a first responder.
Assault weapons -- defined as any rifle with a "military style" feature, such as a bayonet or a telescoping stock -- that are currently owned would be grandfathered and would have to be registered with the state. Magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds and manufactured before 1994, which are currently legal, would have to be turned over to authorities or sold out of state within one year. If a magazine has a capacity between eight and 10, it would have to be retrofitted to only hold seven rounds.
Under Cuomo's plan, the state would have one year to set up an instant background check system for all ammunition purchases. Law enforcement would be alerted to large purchases of ammunition.

Well, once the NY Assembly nods it off today, we won't have to wait for long until CA, NJ and MA

following NY's direction in lockstep.

Here's a link to Senator Greg Ball's short speech after last night's vote inb the NY Senate.

Good one, which should make people think:

Is there even any chance, that a state or federal court could annihilate that legislation?

I mean... 7 rounds :fool: , seriously ?!

This is practically a statewide handgun ban for itself. :rtfm:

And the most scary thing is, that even a lot of Republicans must have voted for this decision.

Uhm, a lot of the repubs are just the same ´tards as the libs and pretty much always have been. Especially in commie states. There´s a couple on both sides that are refreshingly better then that but all in all it´s not all THAT different from europe when it comes to mentally challenged people in politricks.

But let's hope that when these few "candidates" are through, the flood will stop...

Unfortunately not. Hawaii and likely Rhode Island will see how things develop and follow suit;

Illinois will try, too.

Even in NH and VT the libtards raise their ugly heads. Fun times ahead and a lot of work for

attorneys and courts.

There seems to be another bill by ultra-liberal Rep. Linsky in the making.

Ultimate goal: Eradicate all legal gun ownership.

There seems to be another bill by ultra-liberal Rep. Linsky in the making.

Ultimate goal: Eradicate all legal gun ownership.

Gov. O'Malley in MD is also trying to put in another piece of junk legislature and will release the bill this Friday. Basically:

  • An across-the-board ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms
  • Restrict magazine capacity to no more than ten rounds
  • Require a state permit to purchase a firearm which would be obtained after prospective gun purchasers complete a mandatory gun safety class, submit their fingerprints to a state-run database, and undergo a state-funded background check
  • Broaden the list of disqualifying mental health criteria and conditions
  • Grant police additional authority to confiscate firearms
  • Require an additional federal background check at the time of purchase
  • Impose a seven-day waiting period before a purchaser can take possession of their firearm

Looks like someone let the lunatics run free in all States right now. If you want to help Maryland, please feel free to use our email system to voice your opinion (in English plz - goes to all State representatives).

Hey Cuomo, eat this:

NY Supreme Court: SAFE Act Injunction Unless State Proves Law Constitutional

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/02/foghorn/ny-supreme-court-safe-act-injunction-unless-state-can-prove-law-constitutional/#more-205763

This just in at TTAG command central: the New York Supreme Court has stated that an injunction against the new SAFE Act (AKA massive, over-reaching gun ban) will be put in place on April 29th unless the state can prove that the law is constitutional. This puts the burden of proof on the state of New York to show the law is legal under the newly re-affirmed provisions of the Second Amendment, which is impossible.

There's hope after all.

Listen up guys!

NY State Senator wants to repeal Cuomos "Catch 22":

Also, the way the bill made it through the Houses is now under juristicial evaluation:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-03-01/cuomo-asked-by-judge-about-need-for-speed-in-ny-gun-suit.html

Cuomo & co. will have to explain the rush, failure tot do so will halt the bill.

Judge rejects injunction on N.Y. gun control law

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130313/NEWS01/303130040/Andrew-Cuomo-New-York-gun-control-Bob-Schultz?nclick_check=1

A state Supreme Court judge on Wednesday denied a motion for a preliminary injunction of the state’s new gun control law.

A group of more than 1,200 plaintiffs sued the state on the grounds that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature’s process for passing the law on the first day of session violated the New York state Constitution.

Obviously this needs to up the ladder up to the Supreme Court.
